Before the introduction of a plastic tax next year, Lindum Packaging launched a series of new pallet packaging made from 30% recycled content.

From April 2022, British companies will be levied a tax of £200 for every ton of plastic that does not contain the minimum recycled materials, and pallet packaging will also be taxed.

Lindum's new series combines nanotechnology to produce more environmentally friendly products with the additional advantages of nano stretch films. The series includes stretch film options for manual pallet packaging, packaging tape for machine and manual carton sealing, and pallet covers.

"Plastic taxes are getting closer and these new products will help our customers eliminate or limit tax liability in their packaging business," commented Rick Sellars, Lindum's in-house packaging technology expert.

Unlike 100% virgin polymer film, the new series includes recycled and pelletized polyethylene resin materials. They comply with OPRL's strict definition of "recycling" and are compatible with circular economy models.

"As the new tax approaches, we expect the demand for recycled content packaging to increase significantly, so we recommend that customers take the necessary measures to switch to recycled content or minimize the use of pallet packaging to reduce their responsibilities," Sellars added. .

"This new series is not suitable for all of our customers. We are working hard throughout the supply chain to find ways for companies to reduce the number of original packaging.
